Shower, O heavens, from above, and let the skies rain down righteousness; let the earth open, that salvation may spring up, and let it cause righteousness to sprout up also. (Isaiah 45:8)
They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day. By the same reasoning, you could say that your spiritual practice in the morning sets the tone for the whole day.
During Advent, it’s easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of life, swept up in the storm of things we’re supposed to do for ourselves and our families, or caught in powerful feelings brought on by the approach of Christmas. A daily practice of morning prayer is a great way to ground yourself in the love of God and the expectation of the coming Christ, helping you face the weather of the day ahead.
Every weekday in Advent, from Monday, December 2, right up through Tuesday the 24th, come join us at 6:30 am in the chapel area for a simple service of Morning Prayer. Inspired by ancient monastic practice, the service of Morning Prayer features the Psalms as the centerpiece of our communal prayer. Even with time for silence and reflection, the service lasts only about 35 minutes or less, giving you plenty of time to get a start on the busy day ahead.
Whether you attend once or twice during the month, once or twice a week, or every weekday, we think you’ll find Morning Prayer a powerful way to start your day during the Advent season.
