Memorial Garden - Final Fundraising Push is On!
There is so much happening in our memorial garden and, as is often the case with construction projects, we have more money to raise to see it through. Our garden project includes components that were difficult to estimate up front, such as steel, and some of the prices have changed. We need to raise about $25,000 to complete the project - and now is the time to make a contribution if you haven't yet done so.
Where are we now? So far in the garden we have completed the design work, much of the pouring of concrete, and the internal frames for the stained glass windows have been fabricated. Over the next few weeks we will begin to see the foundations for the frames poured, and the windows themselves getting cast into their new, secure, concrete frame homes. Keep an eye out there, it's getting real, and wonderful!
What remains to do/fund? Why do we need more money? There are a couple factors that require the continued raising of funds for this garden project. The first is some of the components of the project that were difficult to predict, and whose costs have changed since the original estimate. These include items like concrete and steel, whose prices fluctuate. Steel in particular has gone up, and so is costing more than when the project estimates were done at this time last year. Second, as the window designs have emerged, so has a desire to provide some protection for these beautiful windows in their external facing. This was not in the original estimate, and will cost at least $8,000. The clear, strong, material that will be incorporated external to the glass as part of the window construction will protect the windows from anything thrown or tossed over the fence or toward them from outside the worship space.
Please consider making a donation, and sharing this giving project far and wide. In coming weeks we will put out a promotional video that shares the story of the garden, along with more info on the progress of the build.
