From the Associate Vicar: The Peace of God

Dear One’s of St. C’s,

This may be the strangest fall kick off yet in the life of St. C’s.  As the winter looms ahead of us and as we wait for the smoke to clear, this Sunday we will mark the return of the school year and try to settle into our fall rhythms.  As we continue to adapt to ongoing life during a global pandemic I hope that you are finding some comfort in what you can control and how you will navigate this time. As we lift our prayers up to God and take deep breathes I find myself thankful that I am not in this alone.  That God is with us and God has blessed us with one another.

Alissa and I are doing a 4 week preaching series on the letter to the Philippians starting September 20th.  I highly encourage you to spend some time in this letter that Paul wrote.  It is only four chapters long and easy to read in a sitting.  This is an intimate letter of love and care that Paul wrote while he was going through a difficult and scary time. Paul reminds us again and again that no matter our life circumstance we have joy and purpose in Christ.  And, as I work out my faith alongside each of you I see that joy and purpose bubble up again and again within each of you.

I will end this letter the same way Paul draws his letter to the Philippians to a close, “Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Keep on doing the things that you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you.” (Philippians 4:8-9, NRSV)

May the peace of God be with you,

Meghan
