Dear One's of St. C's, 

Some of you may have noticed a new congregant among us, Edward Kihanga.  Edward was actually ordained to the priesthood in the Diocese of Nairobi.  We've had to wait until he could get his ordination to the priesthood transferred to the Diocese of Olympia before he could live into his priestly duties at St. Columba's.  I am excited to announce that he has officially been transferred and I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce him to you all as a new priest serving at St. Columba's.  Currently, his role will be similar to Whitney Devine's.  This may change in the near future as the Diocese is working on getting him a working visa where he could work part-time with other Episcopal African communities, as well as here at St. Columba's.  This position would be shared with the Diocese and fully paid for by the Diocese.  I will keep you updated as that process unfolds. 

Edward and I are still working out what his different roles in the community will be, especially in this in-between time as we wait to see if his working visa will be approved.  For now, expect Edward to preside, teach, preach, read the Gospel, and bless the community.  Everyone give Edward a warm St. Columba's welcome!!
