From the Vicar: The Rev. Edward Kihanga Officially on Staff
Dear One's of St. C's,
Incase you missed the announcement on St. Columba Day, The Rev. Edward Kihanga, is officially on staff with us at St. C's. Edward will be working very part-time with the different Episcopal African communities in the Diocese and when he is not needed there, he will be assisting at St. Columba's. This position is shared between Multicultural Ministries and St. Columba's.
Edward will be presiding at the 9am service on the first Sunday of every month. Edward and I will take turns presiding at the 11am service throughout the month. Edward brings to us his gifts in pastoral care and his love for service. He will be filling in for Meghan when she is being pulled in too many directions. He will head up a newly formed pastoral care team, support the men's bible study on Mondays, assist with adult formation, godly play, preaching, and be the main contact and support for the Sudanese community that meets at St. C's on Saturday evenings.
A word from The Rev. Edward Kihanga: My ministry journey began in youth ministry and leadership of a Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) young adults class. During this period, I discerned a call to full-time ministry and entered the seminary for formation. I was subsequently ordained as a deacon on August 31, 2010, and to the priesthood the following year. In my personal time, I enjoy nature, reading, and watching movies.
I am grateful to be part of this community and look forward to our shared service. Thank you for your leadership and for the warm welcome I have received.
Let's give Edward a warm welcome!!
Meghan
